About The Doctor

Nick Opie was born to Nicholas G. Opie, Sr. and Theresa Opie in 1955 in Butte, Montana. Nick was the oldest of six children and grew up playing in and around the Rocky Mountains that surround Butte. He was always very active in sports playing baseball in the summer months and skiing during the winter. The Opie family enjoyed fishing and camping in the natural beauty of Montana exploring many of the lakes and rivers as well as Glacier National Park and Yellowstone National Park. Needless to say Nick developed a tremendous love and respect for Mother Nature.

During his high school years Nick became serious about studying the sciences, and very serious about ski racing. Although he never qualified for an Olympic team, there were many, many falls, crashes, and wipeouts to add to his credit. These incidents lead to an onset of headaches and neck pain. After graduating from Butte High School in 1973 Dr. Opie went out to Forest Grove, Oregon to attend collage at Pacific University. He continued skiing at Mt. Hood and found a part time job at the local Safeway Store. While at Pacific University he met his wife Linda, a girl from Kailua, Hawaii.

In his senior year at Pacific, amid the painful symptoms of neck pain and headache a collage friend introduced Dr. Opie to his first chiropractic experience. For pain and symptoms, and postural faults that developed since high school Dr. Opie found immediate relief from his first chiropractic adjustment. Unlike any prior medications or medical therapies that first adjustment literally changed the whole direction of his life. After learning a few theories and some history about chiropractic Dr. Opie was accepted to Western States Chiropractic College in Portland, Oregon in September,1977.

In the summer between the first and second year of chiropractic college Nick and Linda were married in Hawaii. They were able to spend most of the summer on Honeymoon visiting the Hawaiian Islands. On returning to school Dr. Opie continued his studies straight through the second, third and fourth years without taking any more summer vacations. That allowed him to graduate six months earlier in December, 1980; and make plans to move to Hawaii.

Nick and Linda Opie have lived in Kailua, Hawaii since April 1981. They have three children; Jonathan, Christopher and Eryn. Nick has continued his love of sports and nature by being a baseball coach in Youth Baseball and an Assistant Scoutmaster with Boy Scouts of America. Chiropractic has always remained such a big part of our lives. I have not had headaches since my mid 20's. Things like bursitis in the right shoulder from throwing baseballs to low back pain from hiking and sleeping on hard ground have all resolved quickly with the right chiropractic care. My children have all grown up without medication. Our medicine cabinet has a box of Band-Aids, some first aid cream, deodorant and shaving cream. Nothing else!
