Celebrity weddings are usually a huge deal and tons of planning goes into them. They are an even bigger deal if both parties are famous. Celebrities are always conscious of their clothing and the image they are putting out there for the public. This is at all times including the most important day of their life, their wedding day. The men love to look great for their ladies and each male celebrity has his own style. Some choose to go formal with a black tuxedo and a very sleek look. Others like to bring their personality to the mix and go for it with a top hat or a crazy tie. Some male celebrities choose to match their bride and wear all white. I just wanted this to be a cautionary tale to your readers. I know that maybe, for women of other ethnicities (and even some naturals) this might not be a big deal, but since so many naturals have finer/more fragile hair I figured I’d mention it.
I used to be a huge fan of hair ties (and I still use them pretty frequently), but I’ve learned to be gentle while using them because I noticed two things. First off, the elastic tension of the hair tie is strong enough to break off some of the hair that it’s encircling (if that makes sense). And also, when bunning, after folding my hair under and securing it with a hair tie, it sometimes broke off some of my folded under ends. I also noticed that I would have mild tension headaches — a sign that I was putting pressure on my edges — when using them to pull my hair into one.
Now, all of this was very subtle but I did notice a huge difference after I cut down my hair tie usage. So I just wanted to give a word of warning. I also wanted to know if anyone else has had an experience where hair ties resulted in broken ends or headaches.
oh yeah they can do damage, but you know what else can do damage, sitting in front of a computer checking out long haired natural divas, while thinking about the countless amounts of knots in your hair and dreading having to lose a ton of hair because you have to be super careful but cut out the knots. Ugh I’m just so frustrated right now with how much my hair tangles no matter how many precautions I take. I feel like cutting the entire thing off and starting over. But that seriously sets me back on my hair growth. Too bad I don’t look bald. Too bad the girl who said she was going to do my hair in yarn twists never called me back…too bad because I’m seriously about to go crazy and do something bad to my hair…
yeah but then when I want to wear it out, I take super good care of it and then it just becomes knot city. I feel like the only thing I can do as a natural is wear my hair in twists or braids, because out is just out of the question…I love my hair, my curls make me happy, until they start loving each other and start looping around the other. Huh…it’s like I can’t have fun with my hair like everyone else is.
I had a nightmare with ties. My problem was using them on wet hair. That’s an absolute NO, NO! I would wash my hair at night and put it into a ponytail/bun to sleep in. This is when I was relaxing my hair. Anyway, one day I woke up with the ponytail on the pillow. It broke right off. I live in South America and the women hair wear their hair in ponytails alot but they will NEVER do it until it’s dry.
