Kate Middleton car is auctioned on eBay but receives NO bids

Two days after going up for auction in a world supposedly hungry for Kate Middleton memorabilia, the new Duchess of Cambridge's old car is yet to attract a single bid.

The blue Volkswagen Golf used by Kate and her then royal boyfriend during their days as students at St Andrews University is being sold through online auction site eBay.

Despite being bought for just £10,818 in Edinburgh in 2001, current owner Sonny Brazil has placed a reserve of £20,000 on the royal runaround because of its history.

The car has barely been used since it was sold by the Middleton family.

A pair of sterling silver cufflinks which were left inside it were also due to be sold with the vehicle, and would have fetched more than £30,000.

However, Mr Brazil, 21, has since had second thoughts about them.

He said: 'The cufflinks are no longer for sale, after careful consideration I feel these may have personal connections to the Middletons so I have decided to pass them back to the Middleton family.

'I feel that this is where they belong regardless of any value.'

Mr Brazil has driven only about 2,500 miles in the VW since Kate's brother James delivered the car to his home, a short distance from the Middleton's family home in Bucklebury, Berks.

Mr Brazil said: 'I went to an auction house in Dorset a few weeks ago and they said it would be worth £30,000 plus, purely because of the name in the log book.

'I'm not quite sure who the cufflinks belong to, they might have been William's or they could have belonged to James.

'I'll be selling the car as well as all the receipts for work done on the car and the log book.'

The first registered owner is listed as Catherine Middleton who bought it in November 2001, a few months after she and Prince William became friends.

During her time as the owner of the four-door saloon she racked up about 60,000 miles and was regularly pictured driving to and from her job as an accessories buyer for Jigsaw while living in London.

She also famously argued with a parking attendant after he issued her a ticket while the car was parked outside her flat in Chelsea in January 2007.

It seems the Duchess also had a few run-ins as she had to have a wing mirror replaced in 2003 as well as her front headlight fixed after it was broken in 2006.
